Life as a Yoga Teacher

Life as a Yoga Teacher

Sometimes life feels bland, sometimes it feels overwhelming and we get used to both. I used to chase the adventure, the next cool yet unexpected thing. I thrived off of being unique but to a fault. As with all things, if you hold on to them for too long, they become toxic. The constant travel, moving, perfecting, landing, became too much and burnout set in. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hear it over and over again from yoga teachers, I’m teaching all the things, in all the ways and I am tired. This is exactly why we built our 300hr Advanced Training the way that we did. It’s an opportunity to dig deeper – but not into the asana – we dig deeper into what lives in the underbelly of your teaching practice. What are you chasing? Is it power, saviorism, an accolade, the way it feels when someone tells you that they enjoyed your class… what is really running the show here? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our AYTT invites you into deep inquiry which may in fact invite you to pull back a bit and reevaluate, take some time off, and when you come back, to do so with a greater understanding of what makes you tik and how you can share this practice in a way that doesn’t have an underlying agenda.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s a brilliant journey of the self that is mirrored off of the alchemist, the untethered soul, and my 10+ years in this work. I talked with a student today who hesitated as she told me she needed a break from teaching and my response was, Congratulations! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For this to be a lifelong practice, a lifelong teaching, we need to discern when to step back and when to lean in. There is time and space for all of it and I absolutely love supporting students in that process. Of course, our advanced yoga teacher training programs invite you into deep study of asana, philosophy, methodology, AND it invites you to experience that off the mat in profound ways.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
